Curriculum Design
In this section, you will find samples of a Unit designed and implement in my gamifed course. The samples show an array of elements that portray my curriculum design. From a Ubd Template to student work, this unit was designed with components of the Ubd concepts and its results with a gamified design.
Sample of a Unit
As teachers, we are constantly learning for the love of our craft. We plan a unit and hope to learn what works and what doesn't so that we can apply it to the next. As I have gowns in my teaching through this fellowship and I have used the concept of Ubd in different scales as an educator. I have used it for quest designs, in-class lessons, and practices while coaching. As I have encouraged my students to set personal goals through self-regulation, I too have the motivation to set desired goals in the classroom and reach them. Through the Ubd concept, I strive to ponder on what I want students to walk away with after a trimester, unit, lesson, or activity, keep myself accountable to reach such goals and create the experiences that will fulfill such objectives.
In the examples below, there is Ubd template outlining one of my units in my World History course. This template walks through the three stages of backwards design, mapping out the "big ideas" followed by the established goals, evaluated criteria, summary for learning and actives that will create learning outcomes.
I have also included the rationale behind the design of the unit and the findings of my teaching after I taught the lesson. The report contains an appendix with samples from my students work and is broken down into three pars: Evaluation of Evidence and Student Progress, Reflection on Unit and Inquiry for Future Work.
